Why You Need A Newspaper
By M.L. Benton
If you are a small business owner you definitely need promotion. And, if you
are an author—you are the product—so you’ll ultimately need self-promotion.
Newsletters can not only inform your readers of reviews, future releases,
appearances, contests and more, but can serve as a helpful source of
information for you to analyze the growth and success of your business/site.
Printed Newsletters can be published and distributed according to individual
needs (monthly, or quarterly.) Printing costs can be kept to a minimum with
black & white printing; or if your budget is a bit more expendable, capture
your reader’s attention with a vibrant-colored logo, text and graphics.
Whether you use b&w or color printing, adding a newsletter into your budget
keeps and attracts new clients!
Online Newsletters are more proficient and are more cost effective. They may
be somewhat casual in generating simply for the purpose of notifying those
that subscribe. Yet at the same time, you can go elaborate and classy. Think
about the design of your newsletter. There are a few things to keep in mind.

Graphics. Keep your graphics to a minimum in your design. The more heavily
graphical the longer the newsletter will take to download in a persons
email and their email will clog. This will cause them to unsubscribe. Also you will need your graphics
to be embedded. This will keep your template from falling apart with the
different email servers your subscribers use.
Content. Naturally you will want all of your latest news, such as press
releases, new contracts, appearances, awards, and contests, you will also
want to include topics of interests, like a short article, a recipe, or a
topic related to an interest or a hobby. Share some of your idea's and tips
in each issue
Keep the number of pages to a minimum. After all, this is a newsletter, not
a magazine or newspaper. Newsletters are best if designed to be read in one
sitting. This can be easily achieved by writing a blurb in your newsletter
and adding a "...read more" to the end and link it to your related subject
at your site.
The best tip I can give you is,
to be consistent. If you decide to release a newsletter monthly or quarterly, be
sure you mark it on the calendar. So you don't miss it.
